It is quite beneficial to me. I appreciate you sharing.

Dr.Nadagooudar. I spent 10 days in India in the late 1990s. Vessels that can grow plants on multiple levels could replace conventional in ground row planting and harvesting. See my comments.I would consider working with a farmer or rancher in India to prove the benefits. We will consider licensing in India

But that ignores something the article points out. Land consolidation increases the likelihood of a disease or climate related crop failure. You’re talking about putting all your eggs in one basket in search of profits. That may become an increasingly risky gamble as the climate changes. I believe maintaining soil, not soaking it in pesticides, crop diversity and encouraging people to grow their own (there was a point in my lifetime where it seemed everyone had a backyard vegetable garden) are the way forward. Every young person who’s come into our garden has walked out saying “I want to do this.” What better way to turn young people onto not just vegetable gardening as part of their personal food chain but to plant the seed of inspiration in future farmers? Making sure there is land available for them to farm and programs like BCYF here in my home province that teach young people agribusiness skills and match them up with farmers who have fallow land young farmers can turn back into productive farms.

As economies grow and develop, people move out of subsistence farming, and farms consolidate. A century ago, more than half of Americans worked in agriculture, today it’s about 3%, but there is nearly as much land farmed as there was in the past. Meanwhile, the productivity of these farms has increased tremendously. In the developing world, many countries are where the US was a century ago, in terms of the number of people in agriculture.

In INDIA there are several farmers owning just one hectare land in 5 to 6 farms or at places.
Need of the day is consolidation of land i.e instead of having one hectare land at 5 or 6 places as mentioned above, have it at one place which is more profitable and to increase overall production per unit area.

We really need to think about how we can have the education and support systems in place to support those farmers.”
Of course another and possibly more sustainable solution might be to try and make farming more attractive by placing more value on food production, recognising the effort and dedication it takes to produce good food, and pay farmers accordingly.
